1966 Alternator/Regulator Question
Hey everyone,
When I bought my 1966 coupe, the guy I bought it from told me that the alternator or the voltage regulator was faulty, he wasn't sure which. This resulted in the battery dying constantly. Well the battery has to be replaced but before I do that I wanted to double check my rewiring to make sure I am not missing anything. Sometimes, wiring diagrams can be hard to read. I rewired the connections between the voltage regulator and my alternator like so:
I wired a yellow wire from the Alternator Terminal "B" to the Regulator Terminal "A"
I wired a white wire from the Alternator Terminal "F" to the Regulator Terminal "F"
I wired a green/red wire from the Alternator Terminal "S" to the Regulator Terminal "S"
I also rewired the Black/yellow wire the was emerging near the volt reg. to the Alternator Terminal "B" (I think it travels over towards the battery and the dips inside the fender well mayber going back to the fuse block? That's what my diagram says)
So my three questions are A: does this sound correct?
B: does the black/red wire that is mounted to the Alternator Terminal "G" need to be mounted to the Voltage Reg. mounting screw and then grounded? Or can I just ground straight from the Alternator Terminal "G" to the nearest engine wall?
C: Does the white/black wire made to attach to the Regulator terminal "I" run the length of the left fender wall and go back to the ignition switch? The wire that I have with the female connector on it is actually green/red.
Thanks for the help, sorry wiring isn't my favorite thing.
