Bigger sway bar
Alright guys, real quick question for you. I ordered all sorts of new parts from NPD (yeah i finally got them) anyhow, i got a new 1 1/8 sway bar for it to sort of stiffen the front of the car up more. My question is, i pulled the old sway bar off last night, but it seems that the end links may be to short, but at the same time i had the damn thing upside down. I have heard that these sway bars are a pain in the *** to get in. Its one from TWI, and everything looks good, but it has poly bushings on it.... will they squeak real bad or should i put white lithium greese on them like the other bushings that are polyurathene on my car? I also have heard that the sway bar hits the frame in the front to, but even with it upside down it looked fine. Its just being held up by the end links and one frame bracket at the moment (was getting late last night) Im gonna paint it black, but i need to make sure the darn thing will fit before i waste more time on it. Has anyone here used TWI products, or anyone here install a 1 1/8 inch sway bar on a 67? I fell stupid for asking, but you guys know your stuff. By the way Dan, i got that autolite battery cover, and i gotta say, there really is no way to tell the difference other than the autolite script on the side, but besides that, it looks great. Thanks for the help guys i appreciate it
I put a new one on my 73. It has been a few years. As I remember I had some dificulty trying to put the end links on. I am trying to remember how I did it. I think I put a jack under the lower arm to push it up to the end link.
well they fit on alright, but theres only just enough to start to thread the lock nut on there. I just hope they have enough to thread when i flip the thing back on the right side
i installed sway bars on my '67 about 6 months ago....
i also have the poly bushings and I did not put any grease on them. They have not squeaked at all so I probably wouldn't put any on if I were to do it again
on the end links...you can't catch many threads to start it off, but when you put an air ratchet on it the bushings will compress and give you more threads

yeah but, it really shouldnt be done with an air ratchet, per the instructions, and from what my dad told me. The thing should just be tightened down to where the bushings are just starting to compress, and that is good enough. I have heard overtightening the end links can result in early wear of the bushings, and an overtight feel to the car, makes sense, they are sway bars, they wont cut roll out completely, but lessen it up enough to wear body roll is minimal. I appreciate the help though guys, im getting ready to leave work in a bit, so ill go home and find out what my fate is
i didn't totally crank down on the bushings.....i just compressed them using the air ratchet instead of using a wrench...
just make sure you catch enough threads so that you don't cross-thread it...good luck
