If it were me, I think I would reattach (or rebuild) the broken pieces with fiberglass. You can sand and shape it once its dried, and it'll probably be stronger than new. Go ahead and put new foam seals all in that heater box while you have it out and use some 3M cauking/tape when you put the two halves back together. Yes - you do want it to be as air-tight as you can get it. It will result in more heat when you need it, and a quieter operating heater.
Dont feel to bad. My car had a brand new windshield (one of the reasonse why i bought it) and when i was taking it out i made a DUMB mistake, so dumb im not even gonna say because yall woud laugh me off this website, but i ended up cracking it. i guess thats just $250 more dollars i can ad to my restoration bill. If ya cant fix the heater box then u can buy a new one. It pobably wont break the bank.
I was tryin to take the windshield out and i was using a screw driver (HUGE MISTAKE) to pry on the weather stripping. I about had the thing out when i got the screwdriver a little to gar behind the waetherstripping and started prying. Next thing i knew i heard somethin POP and when i heard that i said some things that this devil himself wouldnt say then i threw the screw driver across my shop.
see now im gonna have to kill ya!
