Default lightweight cars

Hey guys, first of all I do realize that this isn't quite "classic mustang" quality but I figured that since you guys have been so great with everything else that you might be able to help with this thing I'm trying to figure out.
awhile back I received a 455 engine for doing some work for a friend and what I would like to do is drop it in a piece of crap car and have my self a cheep sleeper. the only requirements I have for the car is that it is as light as can be.... but also a car that doesn't normally have a big engine in it but has the room for such an engine.... and emissions will probably be a problem considering I would like to drive it so older is preferred. I was thinking of something like a gremlin since everybody seems to hate it, it would be awesome to see them get spanked by the car they despise .... anyway It would be great if I could get help but if this isn't appropriate for the Bord then I'm fine with it getting deleted because its not that important to me, just some info I would like to get for latter down the road.

P.S. I finally got my gallery up but there are only a few pics so far.

they didnt make a lot of compacts back then....mini cooper? karmann ghia? beetle? good luck getting that engine into a small car like that though......u could always get something not too huge like a mustang coupe or somthing and just replacing all body panels with carbon fiber or whatever the lightest stuff out today is......u could replace a lot of things on the car to make it lighter just cost money and time.....

corvettes look pretty small and light??? i dono....

I put a 460 in a 76 chevy love. if you don't mind cuting and fabing metal, you can fit any engine into any car or truck.

Any ford shock tower car probably a lot of trouble, I'd look for a old mustang 2 or a pinto, bobcat these cars are fairly light and have double a arm which means you can take the fenders off etc and modify your mounts. You can take the inner fenderwells out. I've seen tilt frontends for these too. Suspension stuff is popular with the street rods using the mustang 2 gear so enough parts.

I'm not sure if a 455 block is physically bigger than a 460, but another possibility would be a '66-'69 Falcon. I believe from the firewall forward they are identical to the Fairlanes of the same vintage, and you certainly see a fair number of big-block Fairlanes around. I always thought those Falcons would make an excellent sleeper.

I'm sure some minor fabrication would be required. Remember to measure twice and cut once!

a big block would be to heavy for the rx7's suspension. a alum block LS1 weights close to the rotory, a standard iron small block is 160 lbs more. i helped a friend install one last year(iron block w/ t-5 and a 98 cobra rear end) and we ended up puting a racing front susp. in for the adjustability to get the car to ride right. the extra 160 lbs made the car handle like a wet spunge on steroids.

Speaking of Ford Falcons, I just found a 66 with a running 289 in my area for 1100.

I plan on dropping my 460 into it.

We are STOKED!!
