Styled steel wheels will not work w/ Granada disk upgrade?
HI all,
After reading the artical on the Granada disc brake upgrade I understand that the 14x7 styled steel wheels will not fit. Is that correct? Just wondering as I plan to collecting parts for the disc conversion.

They'll work; they just have a little clearance issue.
When I installed my SSBC discs up front, I had to use thin spacers for my Styled Steels to fit properly. Plenty of folks will tell you that spacers aren't safe - and they may not be the best solution. But you've gotta do what you've gotta do. I never had any bad experiences while using spacers - but I didn't run any road coarses either! For day to day driving, you'll be fine.

Yeah, I ran spacers on a 1929 Mercedes SSK kit car that I built, and I ran it for mucho miles without a hitch, but like Danny said, I didn't push it either. The problem with spacers is that you run the risk of shearing off the lug bolts if you really push the power to it.
Would the clearance issue come up with the narrower version of that rim (5.5 or 6 or whatever the options are)? I've paid close attention to these posts cuz I would be interested in making the disk conversion on the front, adding a modern vacuum-assist master cylinder, and getting a set of the styled steel wheels. Also, my car is a 66 with the six, so I've got 4-bolt drums on the back. Is there a substitute 5-bolt drum of the same size or do I have to start messing with rear-end or hub replacement? thnks

By the way American Racing does make some nice wheels if you do decide to keep the 4 lug setup. I think but I can't confirm this, you might be able to run the same Turbine wheels that they ran on some of the later model mustangs.
Thanks; this is coming up in other threads, too, with same outcomes. I'd like to get the 5-lug factory styled wheels. I had a 65 falcon futura, 6-stick...you would think those brake drums/hubs might be work for my 66 I6, but I guess not. All the brake kits I'm looking at indicate the same thing. Spindles and rear-end swap seem required.

well that and doing the floors...lol
