Default engine removal

sorry to rush you guys on this, but i only have until tomorrow night (tuesday) to get the engine out or the car has to go back the backyard. HOA rules. My probem is that i'm having trouble removing the flywheel bolts to the torque converter. I can get to them but they are too tight to do by hand and I can get the impact drill in because the power steering linkage? is in the way. Also, for the bellhousing, any tricks to get some of the upper bolts off. I cant get the impact in there either. Thanks guys.

Can't you use an extension from your 1/2" regular socket set? My impact sockets fit my 1/2" ratchet and expension as I figure most are.

IIRC, remove the inspection plate to gain access to the bolts and use a long socket. Rotate the crankshaft as required to get them all.
Good Luck

Or if you have a cherry picker or engine puller big enough, why not just pull the engine and tranny together? Why separate the tranny if you don't have to?

ill say it again, lol. I can get to the bolts. I just can't get them off by hand with a normal ratchet and their is not enough room to get the impact drill in. I only have about 2-3 inches of space between the flywheel and the steering linkage. I may take the tranny out with it. The engine hoist should be able to handle it, its a 2 ton hoist i believe.

If you can get a cheater pipe on the end of the ratchet, do that. Just use any steel or galvanized pipe to use as a cheater. Don't use the ratchet though. Use the breaker bar instead. You might break the ratchet. But, If it were mine, and I was in a hurry, I would just take the tranny out with the engine.

MUHA! HA! HA!
Its out, brought the tranny out too. For all those books that say dont bring the auto tranny out with the engine, HA! LOL. I feel better now. Later I plan to wash it off but the fuxoring water pipe burst right after I pulled the engine out and the glue hasnt dried yet so I have to wait till later. Then the rebuild will begin this weekend. WOOT! I couldnt mount it on the engine stand though. Don't really know/see how. Could someone tell me how? Thanks.

P.S. yep, thats me, i know i look clean but lol, i wasnt
