Default Engine Problems

I got a 68 Coupe 289. I am able to start the car up and the idle is set right, now here is the problem. Whenever I put the car in gear the idle drops so low that the car cuts off. I have adjusted the idle screw and carb but still have the same problem. Any solutions. Thanks.

When was the last time you did a general tune-up on the engine? That's where I would start. Also double check all your vacuum lines to make sure they are not cracked or loose. Especially the one going to the distributor.

The car is an auto and I did a general tune up when i got it. It was sitting for three years. Changed all the fluids, gaskets, plugs, and wires. All the vaccum hoses were also replaced. Thanks for all the great information and help.

i believe you mean "bored .030 over" not "bored 30 degrees"

When the engine is cold, tap the gas pedal to the floor, start the engine......then take off the air cleaner and see if the choke is closed.

I've had the same problem occur a couple of times since I got her over 6 months back. I have a problem with fuel supply to the carb so I'm thinking thats whats causing it. I have an automatic with an electric choke, last tune-up was this past weekend.
