Header question--------
I would like to install a set of headers.. I know long tube headers are the best for HP but, I'm just going to use it on the street. I heard that short tube headers are great for low end torque, is this correct?
Do a search and plenty of information will pop up.
You can also look at

for any fitment issues you might run into.
I would recommend ceramic coating on whatever you do get, it holds up well and looks good after years or service.

For shorty headers, JBA makes a quality header that bolts right up to your 289 or 302. They also make a medium length header with the collectors.

Tests have proven that shorties add no HP gains on either the top or bottm end. They may give you a better sound, but that's about it. If you're truly wanting to benefit from better breathing, you have to go with long tubes.
DO HEADERS MAKE A BIG DIFFRENCE IN SOUND AND POWER? I HAVE A 4 BARREL HOLLEY CARB, FLOWMASTER DUAL EXHAUST WITH TURNDOWNS BEFORE THE REAR AXLE, AND K&N AIR FILTER. ITS SOUND LOUD IN THE CAR BUT I WANT PEOPLE TO HEAR ME FROM A DISTANCE? WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET THAT SOUND?PLEASE HELP!
