I have a 1968 coupe 289 i have an exaust system but i dont know if theyre any good they sound good but i was wondering if i cut the catylitic convert of will it sound better

 

why is there a cat on a 68??!!!?!?!?! its probably just the resonator, go with stock, our 65 has the GT exhaust and it sounds great (289)....well a good exhaust would sound better, is it headers and all?

 

well i think its a cat beause theres 2 square boxs in the middle of the exaust so i thought removing those would be louder

 

You sure those aren't the mufflers?

 

There were no cats on anyof the 64 1/2 through 73 mustangs

 

Those square boxes are the mufflers. Yes, if you take those out, it will be loud.
If it has resonators, they will be in the rear and are round.

 

ROFLMAO, im sorry i couldnt help. If you cut the mufflers off, like said, its loud, probably too loud. It will probably land you a few noise pollution tickets. I mean i fired my 351W up with a friend the other day and the exhaust was so rusty that it had fallen off a while back and the pipes only lasted until about the end of the tranny. It was so freaking loud at only idle that we could barely talk to each other. I think...i dunno, that was about 7 months or so ago and I have a pretty crappy memory sometimes.
