well...at the moment yours is about 2/3 of a stripped car....so thats pretty explainable...

haha im just kidding, but i dont see how they weight near 3000 pound either. sounds like there was a lot of steel crapola on them....not too much aluminum or fiberglass.

I seem to remember that they come in at about 3200 pounds. But it has been awhile since I've seen data on this.

Wasnt it one of Iaccoca's goals to design a car with so long a wheelbase,2 bucket seat, weigh under 2,000, and cost under 2000? Thats just what I remember...

Wikipedia has the shipping weight of a six cylinder right around 2600 lbs, while the fully equipped v8 is at 3000 lbs.

haha, that is very true.

and baddog,
im not sure what iaccoca's actual intentions were for the mustang, but he did reffer to the 67' as "a fat pig"[&o]

carl

Ok, the 2 grand thing was limited to the first year. And Im almost positive he referred the early 70's as "fat pigs"...

Gosh, if the 67-70 is a fat pig..... I must own the whole damned herd , flock, covey , tribe or whatever the hell you call a bunch of pigs ! BUT, I can stretch my legs out comfortably and it gets around pretty good for a heavyweight. Dean
