Default 289 vs. 302 block

I've heard that the cylinder walls extend further on the 302...

if this is true, can a 347 stroker kit still be used on a 289 block or is the cylinder not quite long enough?

I haven't heard of anyone using a 289 block for these strokers....does anyone know for sure if it will work?

It can be done, the block has to be notched, thats all.

but strokeing it to a 347 would put alot more strain on the little engine wouldnt it? wouldnt you just want to get a 351 and not have to worry about breaking something? by useing a those small blocks to get 347ci out of it are you really saveing that much weight by doing it?

no, a 351 is taller, wider, and has a different oil pan. To most untrained eyes, they look the same

i know that either block will have to be notched

My only concern was whether or not the sleeves are long enough on the 289, but it sounds like they are

wouldnt you just want to get a 351 and not have to worry about breaking something?
i already have a 289 so building a 351 would be significantly more money.....(I'm trying to become a licensed skydiver, and build an engine, and i'm full-time in college.....i'm gonna run out of money [:@])

a 331 stroker might be safer to use on the 289 block. ive also heard of the 347's not being as reliable.

i just ordered a cast 331 crankshaft last night for my brother's car. its made by eagle and was 10/10 undersize. it only cost $107. im going to check it out once it comes in, ill let you know how it looks. link
