Yes, a generic plasitc one with a vent is much better than just losing your fluid to the ground.

Since the search is not working, I found this thread using google. Yes, I know it is 2 years old. I am planning on fitting one of the generic plastic ones to my car. Has anyone completed this project and has any pics they can share of the job? I am planning on driving to Phoenix and Vegas this summer and I trying to prepare my car for the drive. I am concerned about the cooling system holding up with the A/C on.

i bought a generic plastic overflow from advance until i could justify a nice stainless radiator mounted one, it works just fine, especially for 8 bucks. the one i got has metal hangers that fit just perfect into the support for the windshield washer fluid resevior, which is fine with me because i dont have one...

I will stop by advance next time I go into town. Any chance you can post a pic of your setup?
Thanks
Dan

I bought the 8 dollar one, but the hanger clip under my fender and stuck the fender bolt through it. I then hammered it around the fender apron to give it a nice form and to get it to fit very closely to the apron. Here is a pic, it looks decent considering the price.

Here is the one we use. Polished Aluminum. Very cool looking! On sale for 25 Dollars

It is NOT vented and is used to catch the overflow only.
We needed this to pass tech inspection at drag strip.

I have seen the stainless steel one, but I am thinking budget for this project. Plus, other than the air filter, my engine compartment is stock. 4reboy,I really like that setup. Thanks for the pic and the idea.
