I found this pic on e-bay and don't recognise the part. It is outlined in red.

No that is a 67-68 thing. You won't have that on a 65.

actually only 68 san jose cars had the fuel line that ran the length of the friver side rocker panel, and went to the tank from. The dearborn and meutchen cars, were routed through the front driver side torque box, and immediatly followed along the tunnel for the driveshaft......i actually did comparisons and did some research on this, but that bracket in the pick was meant for a protoect the exposed ful line from debrey on the road, and/or some wise guy that put a jack underneath it, very uncommon to see these days but thats what it is

Good info. I thought it was a late 67 and 68 thing. I have a late 67 but it was built in San Jose so it sounds like you are right.

I tell you what though....I would sure as hell would hate to try to replace those leaf springs. I would have to buy my recip saw a couple of stiff drinks before tackling it.

I was starting to feel like a dummy until I read all the replies. None of my Mustangs had this. I always remembered them running through the torque box routed from the tunnel.

hmmmm....

my car had the fuel line going down the rocker panel and had that cover under the driver's side torque box. its a 67' from new jersey. maybe one of the previous owners had to replace the fuel line and could only get that type...?.?.?
