goin with the windsor
ok so im taking the windsor. clevelends were just too much and i found a bunch more parts for the w. ne way just need a couple other things. my car is still basically stock so im guessin with the engine drop ill need a new tranny and torq converter along with a new rear end. wonderin what tranny to go with (dont need ne thing fancy, just something for the bigger engine and rear end) but besides that should i do a 8.5' rear end or 9'? everyone always upgrades to 9 but ive heard the 8.5' is more efficant. just wonderin...

They do make a small block C6 but they are not necessary for the Windsor. A good old C4 will work. I doubt you will be getting 450 to 500 horsies from a Windsor unless you are willing to spend at least 4-5K. I guess you could use nitrous and do it cheaper
. Use the 8" rear end until you break it. I think you will be suprised how strong they are. So in other words, drop in the windsor and leave everything alone except maybe a good stall converter and a set of gears. Just me .02 cents.

oh ya ill get 450-500 from it. hell im only 20 and i dont ever plan on sellin it. i figured thats my true goal and im not gonna get there with the 289 without huge mods. but will my stock tranny hook right up to the windsor? seems like id need a c6 or somethin....or is that just for the clevor?
The C-4 bolts up to the Windsor. That's what they came with. And the old top loader bolts right up with added parts to make the car a manual, it just depends on which tranny you prefer.....standard or automatic. However, with mods, you can add the T-5 or C6AOD. It just depends on how deep your pockets are. The 8.8 is a more efficient differential than the 9 incher, but either will work. The 8.8 will require more mods though. But, first things first. Build the Windsor on the engine stand. New aluminum heads, intake, cam, 4v carb, headers and dual exhaust, then stab it in there and have it dynoed. If around 400 RWHP, then consider upgrades on the tranny and rear.

ok last couple questions then.....i figured this car is gonna b a project till i die. should i go with a long block or short block and build it up. i figured ill go with a duel carb config and i was reading about putting the paxton supercharger on a single carb, im guessing they have a duel carb config for it.
so where would b a good place to find a short or long block (if they have the config im looking for)? also id end up selling my 289 hi-po and i figured id sell it has a create package instead of selling it piece by piece.
just hoping the inner engine walls have caved in too much for the monte carlo bar[:@]
