Default Heads ??

Ok guys, When i get ready to get me some rebuilt cast iron heads, What should i ask the machine shop, or head shop, or whatever they are??? I'm going to trade in my stock 289 heads, and get some better ones. Should i ask for 351 heads, or just some port and polished heads from a 289 or 302????

Depends on your cam...for a stocker, 289/302 are okay. A bigger cam would benefit from 351w heads.

Well, Of course im getting a bigger cam. Im getting a wieland intake, 600 CFM holley carb, and a cam. I dont know what cam i want yet. Can anyone post the specs of their cam, and tell me how their car runs with it?? I think ill try and find a set of 351 heads. Anyone know what size valves are in a 351 head?

I watched the rear exhaust video, and what is with the "squealing" type noise?

It's my powersteering. No my fan belt. Oh that's right, it's my gear drive. Gear drive makes that sound because it is gear to gear.

I don't want to hijack 6mustang6's post. Gear drive is positive timing. No chain to stretch.

IF you can find them... get yourself a pair of C9OE casting 351 W heads. They have the smallest chamber ever on the small block heads. The D0OE heads are the next best choice with only a couple of cc's difference. Good luck, Dean
