Default Best to restore?

hey guys, well I'm new here thought id give a little intro heh, im 19, just turned today. I dont know much about classic mustangs, but what I know is that they are a beast!, I love'em, seeing all these classic mustangs made me fall in love with them. I was wondering what year and model would be best to restore? Ive been looking at 67 fastbacks/coupes but can't decide. And which is more valuable, automatic classics, manuals etc..

btw can someone give me a site where I can go to learn more about classic mustangs.

Fastbacks are usually more valuable because they are more desireable. There are some coupes that are valueable also. As far as transmissions go, a lot of us here prefer manuals even if we don't have them.

pretty much any year 65 to 73 are the best. like in my poll about what is better, coupes or fastbacks, fastbacks r growing in value. but fastbacks r more expensive and coupes r cheaper. and early years 65-66 are apparently easier to find parts for.

my coupe was already restored. I got her for the fun factor and not resale value. Decide what you want to spend on it and go from there.

i have a coupe and i love her more than life itself Coupes are better in retrospect that you can actually see out of the back window, and are more of a roomier feel to them. I have had my coupe for about 6-7 years and would never think of selling it. If you want a coupe that will bring good resale value, look into any big block cars, and gt cars. Standard cars will bring fair money but the gt bigblocks are the way to go. As far as fastbacks are concerened, really any engine and trim package will bring better numbers than a well equipped coupe will, mainly because there harder to come by, but sspend your money on a coupe, there cheaper, and IMO the best body style for the buck

You just found the best site on the web to discuss Classic mustangs. Your question has been asked numerous times, and every time the concensus seems to be that if you are wanting an investment vehicle, then the fastbacks are the right choice. But, if you are looking to actually own as classic mustang, and your pockets are not very deep, then the coupe would be your choice. I personally would rather have my coupe over any year model fastback, with the exception of the 65-66 fastback. To me, those are the best looking classic mustangs ever built.

figure any way you go, you are going to drop at least $10K into paint, interrior, drivetrain, steering, brakes, wheels...might as well just look for the best base posible with the best options, and stay away from cars with hard to find parts, like a 71 MACH since you can spend way too much time and money looking for one small moulding
