Default 302 Boss engine build question

Hi--I am new to your forum, and hope you can help me with a Mustang engine question.

I have a '68 XKE jaguar that has a frozen 1973 351-C in it (It sat in a barn neglected since 1975). It's a really poor fit inbetween the Jaguar front frame rails, and is physiclay too large for the car without serious body alterations which I do not wnat to make. I have decided to replace it with a smaller engine. A respected kit for putting a ford engine into a XKE Jaguar can be purchased from this site. http://www.johnscars.com/xke/xke6.htm I am going to put in a Ford 302, but before I do I want to know if I can salvage any of the parts off the 351 I have in order to improve the preformance of the new 302. The previous owner built the 351 C up to be a race engine. According to his build notes this is what the engine has:

1971 Boss 351 heads
429 Cobra Jet Vlave Springs
Shelby Cam (290 degree duration, .498 lift)
Shelby lifters
Offenhouser Dual Port 360 degree intake manafold
Boss 302 water pump impeller in a 351 pump
High volume oil pump and pickup

I'm sure it was a screemer when it ran. Anyways, I know the Boss engine used the Cleveland Heads mated to a 4-bolt 302 block. Can I use the 351 Boss heads and mate them to a 302 block in a similar fashion? And if so, what should I look for in selecting the block? I have next to no experience with ford engines, so any advice you could offer would be appreaciated. It would be nice if under the bonnet of the Jaguar I had somthing a little more exotic than the usualy chevy 350 or run of the mill ford 302. I was thinking I might be able to build up a Boss 302 engine to give the Jaguar that extra kick and uniqueness. I'd be grateful for any ideas / opinions.

Thanks for your help

Yes you can mate 351C heads to a 302 block, if you can find the correct intake manifold, plug some head holes, drill some block holes, etc.
There was a recent post in the 5.0 section that talked about this.
Do some searches of cleavor, cleveland heads on windsor block...

2V heads would be better, especially if you want to drive it with a 302 block. Its not too tough to do.

Would you be willing to sell or trade the Cleveland? Lots of parts around here.

I probably will be willing to sell the old engine, although I am not certain yet if I will remove the heads or not. I am located in Cleveland Ohio and have no means to ship it however. If your interested, give me an offer, and some means of getting it to you. However, I doubt I'll be making a definate decision on what to do with the engine any time soon. Thanks

I am straight north on I-75, well north and west. Upper Michigan. Driving down is no problem so dont worry about shipping. I have a couple extra sets of 2V heads and a few 302 and 5.0L roller cam blocks. PM me later and we can work something out.
