Default i have this problem?

I have a 65 stang and theres something weird going on it sounds perfect but when i put the car in gear its an auto. it starts to bang kinda like a choppy idle does any one know why this is ,, i was thinking it might be something with the trans but not sure thanks for your help.

Not much info to go on but I will take a guess. Banging sounds like it might be mounts. Engine mounts or the trans mount or both. Are you saying the the thing also runs like crap at the same time or is it just making noise and running fine?

it doesnt run like crap it runs fine but like when the cars in gear and my foots on the brake so its not in motion its a choppy sound it doesnt seem to be comming from the engine its kinda hard to explain

Thats gonna be tough to diagnose over the internet.. Could be quite a few things, one is the exhuast is hitting the floor because of broken mounts. But without hearing it, well near impossible to figure out.

The best thing for you to do, is to jack it up and do a complete visual inspection of every part under the car. It could be almost anything that has come loose.

my guess is its somthing to do with the carberator.

hey thanks for the help but the guy who said the carb was right the idle needed to be turned up a bit i feel like an idiot
