You want horsepower or torque? A 351 in a '65 is a squeeze, not to mention all the other changes you will have to make. A modified 302 will give you all the power you will ever need (are you a crazy street racer?) Everything depends on how much you have to spend... What rear end, tranny etc? Gobs of torque is going to require a 9" rear end, especially for a 351. Really think you should go 302 and be reasonable.

I am in the process of having a 289 short block done for my '65 GT Fastback and with the intake, carb, heads, headers etc I am using, it will be making over 300 hp and more torque than I really want. I know there are those out there that think bigger is better, but these are 2800 pound cars, they don't need 351 cubic inches for daily driver street travel. If it was a drag racer, maybe. I bet you are a young driver too... Sorry, just my opinion on this subject.

a 302 and T5 and 9 inch posi will be one savage drivetrain. a 351 is a little burley for the 65 engine bay as far as i know so watch out for that...shock tower mods dont sound fun...or cheap...or quick...

That setup is what i plan to do with my new 68'. Just need the tranny conversion and im set...for the drivetrain at least......

find out what rear end you have right now.....if you have an open 9" you could just add a posi unit and your good....

as for engine....everyone will probably have their own opinions....

The Truetrac i believe you can just throw in your current rear end. Its silent so thats nice....probably sorta expensive though.....
