Hey there guys, I currently have a '67 coupe. I've had it for a few years, I've had the engine rebuilt, and put a 2 barrel holley on it...Now I'm learning it probably wasn't the best option.
Anyways, after getting it rebuilt, the engine still runs like crap, and has a real miss to it, and to make it worse my engine is Knocking again, which comes to my first problem. It doesn't sound like an engine knock. I took it back to the shop where I got it rebuilt, and low and behold, the guy skipped town with everyones money. The new shop owners said I was about the 15th person to come back looking for the jerk. I also found out that when he was supposed to machine down my head to make it sit flat on the block, he just belt sanded the sucker, and so now I have oil dripping all down the side of my engine...
This knock is driving me nuts though, I can't figure out what it is. It started a few weeks ago, one night for about 10 minutes then went away. It did it again about 2 weeks later, same thing for about 10 minutes and went away. Then it did it two nights ago, and it hasn't gone away, just gotten louder.
Then I found out I probably have a sticky valve, and I was wondering if anyone knows what I should do. I did compression tests on my cylinders, the first cylinder was good, but when I put the gauge in the second one, it shot straight out of my hand, and broke the gauge! I popped the valve cover off, and everything looks fine. But when I put my hand over the top of the carb, I feel air blowing out.
And if anyone can answer the other two, heres a question for you. My engine takes way to long to change gears. Its an automatic, but when I'm driving it takes about twice as long as it should to shift, and it will only go to about 3300 rmp before it does. same thing with the second gear, only not as long before it shifts. I'm not sure, but I'm having way too many problems as of late. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It sounds as if you got a real screw job on the rebuild, and you need to have it rebuilt again by a reputable shop, or buy yourself a crate engine. If you can't rebuild an engine yourself, then get with your local Mustang club and ask where you can get it rebuilt. Same thing with the transmission. It sounds as if your harmonic balancer is not working right to transfer power from the engine to the tranny. Or, your C4 tranny could need an overhaul.
How much did you pay the guy? I would get together with other people that got ripped off and contact someone. In GA they have something called better business bureau(something similar.) They help peolpe that get ripped off and what not. Im sure there is something like that in your area.
