HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My motor is going to be back from the engine shop and I forgot to order a flexplate so I get it and start counting the teeth on it and I came up with 160, the problem is that I can't find a 160 tooth flexplate anywhere so I counted it 3 more times and came up with the same thing. I personally have never heard of a 160 tooth flexplate, just a 157 and a 164. My car was and still is an original 289 with auto trans and I'm pretty sure that my flywheel is the same one put on it when new because it has FoMoCo stamped on it and I'm the first person to ever pull the motor or trans out of it. I could reuse the flexplate but I wanted a new one because one of the teeth is chipped. What do I do, I need a flexplate!!!

RE: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just went through the same thing. '65 289 w/ C4 - pulled engine and had it rebuilt, noticed 4 teeth on the flexplate chipped, all my sources said replace with 157 tooth. When I got the new flexplate (Pioneer brand), I held it up to the old one and could see the teeth didn't line up. Sure enough, 160 teeth on the original. I thought some yahoo must have put this thing on years ago until I read your post.

RE: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best I remember, the 160 tooth came on the 260 engines. Maybe they had some left over and threw them on the 289 back then. The 157 should work just fine on a 289 with a C4.

RE: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went to a local parts house today to see if they had one and when he typed it in it showed that it came with a 160 but they aren't made anymore so the computer said that a 157 was it's replacement. I'm glad to have it figured out and I have one on the way so when my motor gets done by Wednesday I wont have to wait on it. Thanks for your help!!!!!
