It is something I would never try myself. I know of shops that can do a good job for $800, and I think it would cost me more then that just in theropy after trying to get everything to stretch and line up right. But honestly I don't know of anyone who has tried to do it themselves.

Changing the top yourself would be a giant headache. Like they said above, you will need special tools for the job. Have a pro change it.

Yup, you have to get the pads, the top, do some sewing, replace the bows and cables, and make it all line up and fit right. I figured if it takes a professional two days to do one, it would take me two weeks.

Exaclty. Work a couple extra shifts at work or something and pay someone else to do it. You know how to do what you do, and they know how to do this.

Flint, Michigan...
I used to work in Flint, downtown--drove from Port Huron every day, and first thing I noticed was thatthe downtown was pretty much empty store fronts!

I'vereplaced a Mustang top once -- on my 1965, but there was no interiorhead liner on that year so all the"skeleton" wasexposed and it was fairly simple. I don't think I'd try it today.
