I never use the one that came with my 00GT. I never used the one that came on my `85 fox body either. Never could get the damn thing to fit properly, so it stayed in the shed until I sold the car.

never had one with my car, have driven it plenty with the top down on the freeway with no problems whatsoever. its also much faster to stop and put the top up if it starts raining without having to take the frickin boot off first.

i got a leftover 06 last july when the 07s were out so it came with the car. otherwise i never would have bought it and i will never use it. i in the northeast , have to be ready to up the top, also gets darn hot in the sun so i been putting up the top, but not securing it when parked so the seats dont get too hot. if i lived in CA or AZ, think i would get a nice aftermarket, they loook great, saw one on the road today

I find it very annoying and just a pain to put on so I NEVER use mine at all, hardly ever see anyone around here using a boot.

I have never heard they were req'd. I got an '06 new in March, and a boot came with it. I've used it maybe 2 or 3 times. It's not THAT bad, takes maybe 2 or 3 minutes to put on/take off.. I'm just lazy..

Who are you throwing the flag at? Me, or the OP?

The boot came with my car but I don't use it because I think it's very cheaply made and looks like it. It is not mandatory but a cover of some sort does help to keep dust from getting into the areas you can see when the top is down.

I ended up buying a hardtonneau cover made by 3D Carbon in Southern California. It looks great when its on but it won't fit in the trunk. Neither will it fit inside the car if you have a passenger so you need to make sure your not caught out in the rain.

they are actually designed to keep debris and sh*t out of the well and doing damage to the top when it is down, mines parked in a garage so in the summer it will be put on if i know the top will be down for atleast a day

I don't think it's needed for safety. I have one but didn't have it on one day flying down the Autobahn here in Germany (100+) with the top down. No issues, other than the hood popped up. Thank God for the safety latch! Didn't close the hood good enough apparently! Lesson learned.
