Ouch[:@]

If U can't figure out what's wrong with the power mechanism, then just grab the top with you hands and PULL it up. So I've heard that is OK to do

Had this happen to my 88. Would go down fine, but not up due to a loss in hydraulic pressure. Removed the rear seat and sure enough there was a leak somewhere. I couldn't afford to fix it at the time, so usually had to have someone help me "guide" it back up. What a PITA.

What happens when you hit the switch? If it sounds likes it trying to do something, I would suspect the hydralics. If you hear nothing, then maybe a fuse or motor could be bad, or not getting power for some reason.

When I hit the switch it goes down, but wheb I try to raise it it does nothing... are they separate fuses for each way?

I dont believe so, but when you try to raise it do you hear anything, and does the top make any effort to raise? (even if only an inch or so).

So, it opens fine but doesn't close? Geez

What if you open it "halfway" then try to close it? If that works then open it 3/4 way & try to close it.. just as a way of diagnosing the problem
