Default Cell Phone Users

In the 2007 Mustang Assecories brochure, Ford shows a built in bluetooth cell phone. Has anyone herehad one of thesephone systems installed? The phone works through your car's sterio system and speakers. When someone calls you, the Radio or CDs cut off so you can hear the phone ring. It's voice activated so you simply command it to answer the call.

I'm considering adding this option because, with the top down and sterio playing, I can't hear my cell phone when it rings and with the wind noise, it's difficult to carry on a conversation with my hand held.

I was wondering how well the Ford Microphone works with the top down. Will the person I'm speaking with hear me clearly or just hear a bunch of wind noise? I'm sure I'd be able to hear the other party because I can turn the volume up as loud as needed.

Now - I know I can use a bluetooth headset or ear set. The thing is, I very rarely use my cell phone so I don't want to drive around with a headset or earpiece on all the time - just in case.

Thanks in advance.

I have an aftermarket Bluetooth system in my Yukon. Incoming calls mute the music and plays over the stereo speakersand there is a microphone that is on the steering wheel. It works pretty well in an enclosed cabin. I use a bluetooth headset in my convertible and it doesn't work very well, because of the wind noise.

My brother has the on-star phone system and he is always on speakerphone. Great for him because he is running a business out of his car. I think if you have the wind from the top down, your hands free system will be hard to hear.

I have an inexpensive headset when I am expecting an important call while driving. Otherwise, I just let my calls go to messages.
