Default '67 convertible top latch problem

I've had the frame aligned, reproduction handles and latches and a new top installe on my '67 Mustang convertible. When the latches are closed the back of the latch sticks up 3/4". It should be parallel with the top frame. The hooks have been adjusted. At 65 mph there is an 1/8" gape between the top and the windshield header. If I pull down on the handle I can close the gap. With the handle open there seems to be play in the handle at the pivot point. How do I get this adjusted? Is there something more I should have reoplaced? Got any ideas?
