Default Rattle from 06 top

Hi everyone,

I have an 06 V6 pony pckg. vert. The car only has 8500 highway miles on it. Lately I am thinking that when I hit a rough patch of road or pothole (chicago yeah!) that my top is making noise. This dull thunk type rattle was not there when I got it but has become an annoyance to me. As tops and their seals wear is this noise normal or do I take it to the dealer and see if they can hear it? Mind you I have a rattle that comes from the passenger side dash and it was in for that twice. I was told they can't hear it but on the way home I wish I had theservice guy with me cause it was definitely rattling. I digress.... What is normal for a vert top as things wear?

TIA,

Max Bryant

Anyone else experiencing this? I just started getting this as well. It sounds like it is coming from the rear of driver's side, near where the convertible top folds back into the area behind the back seat. It sounds like some sort of metal piece has shaken loose so that it makes a loud rattle over rough patches, bumps, or when crossing over lane divider bumps.

My rattle occurs when the top is down as well. Would the tension cable rattle do that?

No, the tension cable rattle is top up only.

Thanks for the clarification.

Anyone else have a rattle in their convertible top mechanism that happens with the top up as well as down?

I had this problem with my 2000 vert. I had just bought it so I took it back to the dealership and they tightened the tensioner cable, and said a few bolts and screws were a little loose. Haven't had a problem since then.

Whichever problem you have, it's covered by warranty. If its the tension cable problem, refer to the TSB.
