Default 97 convertible top installation

hey guys, I recently purchased a 97 mustang 4.6 and the top was messed up so i bought a top on ebay. anyone know of a place where they can tell me how to install it? i looked though the forum no hope maybe you guys seen this posted and can point me in the right direction.. any help is greatly appreciated.. don't feel like spending 15 bucks on a manual..

check out this website. they have general directions for installing a top on any car, not specifically a mustang. we replaced the top on my 94 (same top) with directions like these.

I'm in the same situation. I got a top that I want to put on but no directions. In the link above it says you need staplea and glue. Since you say you already put the top on what supplies and tools did you need?

thats about it, a good staple gun, some sort of glue for a couple of parts, and a good set of needle nosed pliers for pulling out all the old staples. get ready for your hands to hurt because there are well over 500 staples that need to be pulled out/put back in to get the top done. its not very hard to do, it just takes time and patience.

Ryan,

My 2002 is need of a new top, and I'm contemplating doing the work myself. I was wondering what size staples and what glue is needed?

I noticed that top installation instructions in general say that you *need* a pneumatic (air driven) stapler. Is an electric stapler good enough?What stapler did you use?
