I was born and raised on a horse breading ranch
i love cats, dogs and all animals.
but lets say my dog (a pitbull) decides to chew on my leather..... he'll probably be sent to the farm.
its one thing to love animals, and another to set priorities.
if a cat was climbing all over my car with those damn nails, i might just kill it or be darn sure to make the thing fear anything realting to the car.
its an animal and has animal instincts and is stupid "by human terms" they dont really learn, cats especially as they are always the boss in there minds where dogs follow the leader.
the cat in the video would be lucky to get away so easy from me.

as for cats smarter??? come on did they invent the wheel? come on bro really?
im not condoning animal cruelty, in point of fact i would say no. but tossing a cat happens? ever woke up to a cat on your head?? toss the cat and no more sleeping on the head for a while then eventually it thinks its boss again and it needs a reminder
either way, if you kitty/doggie/rodent/bird is on my car, i'll get it, so lock em up.

Guess no one remembered my logical post.. And it does work, I used it on my top, w/o any ill effects, or smells.
You can also get electronic solar powered small animal repellent devices, looks like one of those solar powered garden lights.. works for about 50 feet I've noticed.

hmm.. well, all is good for scaring the cat, BUT, remember, its:
1. on a ragtop
2. Scared crapless
3. has claws (even de-clawed cats normally still have rear paw claws)
4. its on a ragtop.
5. its gonna use claws for traction....
I'd say goto a pet store, there is a spray you can get around $4.00 and its a animal repellent. It does NOT stain fabric at all. (of course, try it in a small, unnoticeable corner first, who knows what sunlight will do to it?)
if sunlight does mark it, I would suggest popping the top, and spraying the fabric on the seam where it meets the front window seal, and below the rear window glass where it "hides" in the trunk storage- that way, the 2 main ways the cat would walk up to get onto the roof would "smell bad" to it.

Back in college I could see my car in the drive from my window. The top was fairly new and i wanted it to stay that way for a while. I would either walk out calmly and "shoo" it away or I would use my AIR SOFT pistol and try and shoot it. The airsoft bb's, especially from the old spring loaded pistols, are too slow to go through the top or cause harm to the car...especially at about 15-20 yards. That plastic bb starts going pretty slow. Just what I did.

Yeah, the video is a lot cooler and funnier than killing it, obviously.
It would probably take me 3 seconds to help the op, and this really wasn't a stretch for my imagination. Spray cat repellant around the car, use an ultrasonic repellent device, get a CAR COVER, talk to a petsmart employee, catch the cat, and donate it to your local pet store(how I got my cat). I just came up with 5 helpful reasons that involved no form of harm to either the car or the cat.
Think of how much sh*t I got when that marine put out that video of that puppy being tossed. Us military guys already have it rough on occasions, that didn't help.
