Default Replacement Convertible Top Pump

Anyone know of a good place to buy a remanufacturerd conv top pump for my '89?

I've been browsing and prices are around $220 new and $75 ebay...i really don't want to go the ebay route on this one and $220 is a little steap.

Sparg,

I see you are having trouble getting anyone's opinion, so I will give you mine.

What makes you think you need a pump?

Have you checked your switch?

Do you need a hydraulic fluid top-off? You might if you hear the motor "whirring"?

I am a conv. top technician and think you may have trouble finding a "rebuilt" hydraulic pump.

I don't think there is a market for them. When one of my customers need a pump (a rare occasion) I just order a new one. Like you said, they only cost $ 220.

Check Conv. Top Specialists in Inverness FL (topsdown.com). They are easy to deal with (NOT affiliated with me).

Good luck,
Scan

Thanks scan for chiming in.

I've checked both switches and they are pulling electricity both up & down...you can also hear them clicking. I pulled the rubber plug and the hydraulic fluid is full.

The motor makes no noise at all, either up or down.

The weird thing is that it just stopped working one day. Now, the car is only driven a few times a year, so everything is relative...but the motor doesn't make any noise at all.

Anything else you think i could check?
