Default Winter car washes

Entering 4th childhood with a 2017 vert. A Bucket List item!

No where in the factory manual does it say what to do about car washes. Since this is a daily driver and winters Nanook of the North style a car wash visit is a requirement. I did "pretreat" my top with 303 Fabric Protectant to prep for the inevitable. Cloth top will pick up slush and salt. What do you do about car washing in those winter months? Inquiring minds want to know.

Griz,

Congratulations on your bucket list purchase!

Haartz (the manufacturer of the cloth fabric on your car) sends these recommendations:

It is best to handwash. Make sure before washing that any dirt/debris that is loose gets vacuumed or brushed off(including dried bird droppings, etc). If you need to use a carwash, don't use the ones that have the heavy bristles on the "barrel brushes" type. This type will abraid the topping and advance the deterioration of the cloth. The best ones are the ones with hanging cloth type that drag the dirt/debris off of the car after wetting it down.

Good luck!

I would see if you can get use of a heated garage and hand wash, that's what i do in the winter. make sure you do a nice wax job and you should be safe to go a little while between washes during the winter without the salt doing much damage!
