86-87 facias
There's a ton of aftermarket front ends for the 87-93's but I'd like to replace the one on my 86GT. It's got some damage and I'd like to get something a little different anyways. I know the side skirts and rears will fit but what about the front ends. Does anyone know if any of them will fit or if you just need a little modification? Or better yet does anyone know somewhere that makes/sells different styles for my car?
umm....i duno about the other one's fitting without converting to the newer front end 'cause most of them go up and have the bottom of the lights on it, but you can get the saleen kit for that style and also if you go to if you to www.fxdesigns.com they have one
Now I've got two questions: one is, will the front end from an 87-93 bolt right up and then you just have to do the wiring changes? The second is what do you guys think of this front end if I was to keep the square headlights. It's the only one I've been able to find other then the saleens and I'm not a fan of the 84-86 saleens. The picture kinda distorts it but any feedback would be great, thanks. http://www.compusmart.ab.ca/fx/Ford%...Front%20AD.jpg this is the pic.
i do like that front, my personal preferance is the saleen but i do like that one quite a bit, as for the 88-93 front bolting right up as far as i know it will, i dont know what kind of wiring you need to do, but i cant see that there's much
Yea, just as I'm seriously thinking about getting that I found out it's just an air dam. Like it is just the lower half and it just goes overtop of the stock one. oh well, I want something to replace it, not go all ricer style and just stack things ontop of each other.
I'm going to make my own fiberglass front end for my 86. I'm starting with 69 front fender extensions and building the rest from scratch. I chose the 69 front end because it had a four-lamp sealed-beam headlight system, just like the 79-86. The plugs are even the same, so there will be no wiring involved. In the rear, I'm making a complete rear end using early 90's Olds Cutlass Ciera taillights turned 90 degrees to mimic the classic three-piece Mustang taillight style. The embossed MUSTANG name from a 92 rear bumper will be duplicated in fiberglass and placed between the taillights.
Here is a pic of the taillights taped in place to give a general idea:

I can't mock up the front end until I pull the old facia, so no pics of that yet.
I know a lot of you are thinking I'm a dreamer, and the rest are horrified that I'm going to "butcher" my car. To put your minds at ease, here is a pic of the 86 Camaro that I did for my son (yeah, I know...you try to raise 'me right, but....)

The Camaro is an 86, unlike any 86 you've ever seen before. The changes from stock are substantial, but subtle enough that most people, other than Camarophiles, ask me what was done. If you want to see how it came about, go to www.cardomain.com/id/camvette86
