Default Antenna question...

I'm putting in my XM radio on Monday and I'm sure everyone will agree that the stock antenna looks real stupid on the mustang, so..... Does anyone know if there is a power antenna (you know the kind that fold up into the car when the radio is off or when you flick a switch)? If anyone knows a reliable company that makes these for the 03 mustang coupe that would be great. Please let me know ASAP if you know...I would like to judt open the dash one more time for the sound system on monday instead of doing it all over again when I find a power antenna that works.

Oh ya...and if anyone knows what those antennas are called I wouldn't mind knowing that either.

I believe that would be a power antenna, and I have tried several aftermarket kinds and they all lasted less than one year. If I were going to buy one I would get one from a car dealer and modify it for my mustang.

Exactly what I was thinking, But also what you could do is go to a salvage yard and try to find one that matches yours pretty closely so that you don't justr have to second-guess it.

Why not just take your antenna completely off? You can get cheap delete kits, or just get a body shop to fill the hole. you dont need it for xm radio. this is probably way too late tho

I want to keep my antenna on there so when the cloud cover gets bad and I loose signal on my XM (happens here in tampa quite a bit) I still have FM. Has anyone put a power antenna on and had it last long AND work well?

why not shorten the antenna? It'll still work and you have the XM.

I don't think they do that anymore...besides, that'd cost some big $$$$$
