Throw that sponge type applicator away and buy a 100% cotton applicator.
Anything soft to th face is O.K. to touch to your car.
If it feels anything of scratchy to your face don't use it.
Don't press hard while waxing, just palm weight.
Do it in the shade with the car paint cool. And do it twice.
Apply the wax to the applicator not to the car.
If you drop your applicator pad, don't use it throw it away. Not worth scratches over $1.49pad
Do your hood first, then the top and rear deck lid, then start on driver front and go around car

Very important to have consistency while waxing. Thats why I say do it twice for
guaranteed coverage. The first coat may be little tough to go on and then come off,
but the second coat shoud glide on with ease making the wax go a long way.

My experience has been that the foam applicators are actually pretty good. The only thing I prefer over them is a microfiber-covered foam.

97targa, is the Meguiar's foam pad in the box something you have experience with? I've bought their multi-paks of pads and thought they were just fine.

I'm a little curious. If it's just a cleaner wax, the foam pad actually should be ideal.

Ive been useing the foam pad as well. I think it works good. The more wax that soaks into the pad, the better and easier it seems to get a better coat of wax on the car.

I used the Applicator that came with the Meguiar's NXT Gen. Tech wax ... I thought it worked pretty good.

Hey Lester...
Best way of removing that I have found is cheese cloth. Works like a dream!

PS, please don't forget the toothbrushes! I HATE wax build up around everything.

My favorite removal is microfiber polishing cloths. Specifically, there's a special weave towel with an edgeless design -- they're for polishing and product removal, and they work excellent!

If you've got wax build-up, you might be using too much product. And if you detail your trim first with dressing, you'll have less staining, assuming you're using a product that might tend to stain.

For application of waxes and sealants, I've always preferred foam. If you can find them, the Viking Handi-Grip Applicators are perfect. Otherwise, regular yellow applicators work fine. I find that eh foam absorbs less product and it's easy to get the thin coats that work best when waxing. For buffing off or removing residue, I always use quality microfiber towels. The ones available online are much superior to those bought from Sam's or Costco.

I got a new idea and I had to share it with everyone. This seems to work better than any other type of applicator I have ever used (microfiber, foam, cheese cloth, ect.). Get some Mr. Clean Magic erasers to apply wax with. Sounds crazy but it works amazing!!!
