Getting new wheels/tires, need advice
I just got a laser red 2000 V6 and I will be getting new wheels/tires within the next week and have a couple of questions. I am considering 98 (17x8), 99 (17x8), and 03 (17x9) cobras. I like the 03's the best but would rather not have such a wide tire. Here are my questions:
1. What disadvantages are there to getting the larger width (will they rub, is there a price difference in tires)?
2. I read a post where a guy was complaining about a rougher ride after getting 17's, is this a problem many people have?
Let me know your thoughts and advice (also, if there are previous posts dealing with these issues, post a link please). Thanks.

Well, no one has replied to my post so I went ahead and ordered my wheels and tires (the tires on my stang when I bought it two weeks ago were already down to the wear line and hitting a slick spot at over 65 on these tires would not be good). I ordered the silver 2002 cobra r 17x9's with kelly 245/45 charger hpt's (I was also looking at the bfg traction t/a's but the wheels and tires would have been quite a bit more expensive).
What do y'all think? I'll post pictures when I get them put on this weekend.

Well as for the rough ride, that isn't because of the wheels. It is beacause of tires, most likely he got low profiles and that is what causes more roughness(less cushion). Post the pics though, I'd like to see.
Those wheels are nice man.. you will feel a difference at high speed turn but also you will get a rougher ride specially on uneven surfaces, also the steering wheel will feel a little bit heavier at parking lot speeds..
245's on a 9 inch wide rim will make for an extremely thin sidewall. I don't know why you would do that, but avoid potholes at all cost. As with any upgrade in wheel/tire size, the ride quality deteriorates and handling is sacrificed.
