oh,oh better get Maaco!
I have a 1972 F250 that I bought off my father-in-law and he had it painted a nice metal flake, clear coat looking, root beer brown at Maaco. They did a pretty nice job for the price, but I didn't know that you weren't supposed to take it through a car wash. One day I went through a coin-op car wash and then drove home. I parked it in the driveway and went into the garage; I came back out of the garage and looked at my truck and noticed something funny. On closer inspection I found that the high pressure spray had taken some of the paint off, right under the trim. Why? Because they do minimum prep and only tape off the trim instead of removing it. I got out the warranty info and right in the warranty it says to hand wash only! Bummer! I ended up getting some 1" trimtape and taping the line just below the trim down both sides of my truck. It's not noticable and it saved the whole paint job. The paint job is a good 10 - 12 years old now and is decent except where it is peeling here and there.
If you get a Maaco job be sure and know what the warranty says. Another thing to find out is if they paint the bumpers and all the trim too...good luck!
A good paint job is well worth the extra money if you can afford it...I had a 1984 Bronco II that was custom painted with Dupont Centari that also had an epoxy gloss kit added to the paint...it was black with two stripes one was candy apple red over candy apple gold and the other was candy apple gold over candy apple red. It was still great looking after ten years. Never waxed it either! The guy that painted told me to keep it clean with soap and water and I hand polished it once a year with a product called Liquid Ebony. I went hunting one year and came home with brush scratches all down both sides and all I had to do was polish them out with the Liquid Ebony!
Good luck!

Hey guys again thankyou for your opinions. I was thinking that when I get my car back of putting some reflective orange rally stripes on it and getting rid of the flaming horse head thats on the hood. I think that would really set my car off. I'd like to get some other guys opinions if you don't mind. Thanxs

I was going to say, there are several people on here that have had work done at MAACO and have been pleased. I'm sure there are those that aren't. It all comes down to what your expectations are. In one thread the guy talked about giving the guy a $100 before the job, so he gives it some extra attention.
Do a search and you can pull up those MAACO threads.
Also, Color by Weasel made a good point on complimenting the guy on his work. A little mental reach around never hurts.
Good Luck, looking forward to seeing the pics!
ps - not a real reach around a mental one!!

I'll go ahead and do that search but I'm still wondering on what you guys think about putting some orange rally stripes on my car when I get it back. I know it's my preferrence but I'd still like to get your opinions thanxs alot for all the help and advise. I'll be looking forward to hearing more
If it were me I would just keep the car one color. I think it looks "cheap" if you start putting stickers and decals all over it. Thats what I think..... but you do what you want, it is your car.
ORIGINAL: Lazer Red v6

You can also head over the the chop shop and see if someone can chop some one there so you'll have an idea of what it would look like.
Well guys my car is finally finished being painted by Maaco and I have to say I'm very impressed with the job they did!!![sm=smiley20.gif] I took your advise,crash94, and gave the guy that was working on my car a hundred bucks on the side and told him to give my car a little extra attention and boy did he ever!! Thanxs for the advise
I do have some before and after pictures. The first one is what the car looked like before it was painted and the second one is what it looks like now. The new paint job pictures aren't as good as I'd like them to be but I couldn't really get a good angle on the car because of where it was parked. Let me know what you guys think, thanxs

Its a bit of a small picture to tell much. From what I can tell it looks good, and I think it looks better without the orange graphics. It sounds like you are very happy with the job...that is what is important. Try for some better pictures!
