If it's not bad you may be able to do something with a good abrasive metal pollish. If it's pitted there's not much you can do other than stripping them and getting the rechromed.
TRY HONDA POLISH FOR MOTORCYCLES. YOU COULD FIND IT AT ANY MOTORCYCLE SHOP. I USE IT FOR MY CHROME RIMS ON MY BIKE. SPRAY IT ON LET IT SIT FOR 10-15 SEC IT WILL LIFT THE DIRT OF THE RIMS THEN WIPE DOWN. IT WORKS GREAT.
PURPLE STUFF! my dad has this purple stuff that cleans mine. its the spray on leave it on while u wash then spray again and wipe off as the dirt comes with it and minimal rust if u have any... but if its IN the metal ur screwed
