Is it true washing a waxed car with soap removes the wax.

Dish soap will. It removes the wax when u wash with that stuff. But automotive soaps should be just fine.

BPD,

This depends on the type of car wash you use. If it is a household detergent then yes it will strip the wax and it also contains salt which is not what you want near your paintwork.
I run a vehcile detailing business in the UK and we currently use Mother's Cal Gold wash as this is PH neutral so will not harm the wax on the vehicle. i am sure Meg's has something similar.
Over time though any car wash will remove wax in small portions at a time which is why its important to re wax occasionally.

Ohhh yes. Stop and get some proper car shampoo such as mother's Cal Gold....

Start loving your car and treat it to a good wash and wax.....quickly..

And say 10 Hail mary's as penance for your sins....
