SO LAST NIGHT IM HANGIN OUT AT MY FRIENDS PLACE WHEN HE ASKS IF I COULD GIVE HIM A RIDE TO HIS PARENTS SO THAT HE COULD PICK UP A FEW THINGS (SINCE HE HAS NO CAR). IT'S ABOUT 10 - 1030 AT NIGHT AND WE ARE DRIVING TRHOUGH HIS PARENT'S NEIGHBORHOOD WHEN I NOTICE A CAR COMING THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION THAN US. BECAUSE THERE ARE CARS PARKED ON THE STREET I SLOW DOWN TO ABOUT 20 MPH TO ENSURE I PASS THE OTHER CAR WITH NO PROBLEMS GIVEN THE NARROW STREET. ABOUT 20 FEET AHEAD OF ME I NOTICE THAT SOMEONE IS STICKING HALF WAY OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. "WHAT THE H....." BAM,BAM,BAM....MY CAR IS PELTED WITH 3 EGGS BEFORE I EVEN KNOW WHATS HAPPENING. I SLAM ON THE BRAKES, AND AFTER A FEW PROFANITIES MY BUDDY SAID "GET EM". UNFORTUNATLY I MUST FIRST MOVE PAST THE CARS AND TURN AROUND, AND BY THE TIME I GOT TO THE FIRST STOP SIGN IN THE DIRESTION THEY WERE HEADING, THEY HAD ZIG ZAGED DOWN STREETS AND WE LOST THEM. AFTER 10 MIN OF WASHING THE DRIED EGG OFF MY HOT HOOD AND WINDOW I SAW THE DAMAGE. I NOW HAVE A DEEP "U" SHAPED SCRATCH ABOUT 4 1/2 INCHES LONG IN MY HOOD FROM WHERE THE EGG HIT MY HOOD, NOT TO MENTION THE SPECS OF PAINT MISSING IN OTHER SPOTS FROM WHERE THE SMALLER PEICES LANDED. SINCE MY OLDER CARS WERE NEVER WORTH REPAINTING I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO START WITH REPAIRING THESE SCATCHES. I ALREADY HAVE TOUCH UP PAINT FROM THE DEALERSHIP BUT I THINK THERE IS MORE TO IT THAT JUST SOME TOUCH UP BECAUSE OF THE DEPTH OF THE SCRATCH. iF ANYONE HAS A PROCEDURE OR ADVICE ON HOW I WOULD GO ABOUT FIXING THESE SCRATCHES I WOULD REALLY REALLY APPRECIATE IT. Go to a body shop and get their advice.
Contact your insurance company, and file a vandalism claim.

That's terrible, i'm sorry to say but if you want the scratches completely gone you will most likely have to repaint the whole hood. My car got keyed to hell a few months ago so I feel your pain. Like LEJAY said, take a stop at a few bodyshops and get their opinion's and a few estimates. Most likely the damage will be $350 plus so I would file that insurance claim.

the other day me and my friend were driving through a private community. You would think that things like this wouldn't happen, but three little kids were hiding in the bushes and airsofted my car. Airsoft is not a popular "sport", but they work like a BB gun, only the pellets are smaller, and they are light and plastic. So i get out of the car to see the damage, and there is a scratch where the pellet hit me, and since I was moving, the scratch has a tail. Why dont people respect other people? Does that schmuck want his car eggshelled?

JEWSTANG, THEY WERE A BUNCH OF PUNK *** HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS DRIVING THE POS BOX STYLE CAMRY MOM AND DAD PROBABLY GAVE THEM. NO RESPECT, BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WORTH IT IF I CAUGHT UP TO THEM.

 

LOL... $2,600... It was my whole car the drivers side, the passenger side, the hood, and the fenders etc...

I caught the person that keyed my car and they payed every cent, you can't touch these things up without it being noticable. The touch up paint most likely will be given to you for free or you can pay a body shop like $100 to touch it all up (same as if you do it yourself), but if you want to repaint the hood it will probably be around $400.

SO BASICALLY WHAT IM UNDERSTANDING HERE IS THAT UNLESS I REPAINT THE ENTIRE HOOD THIS SCRATCH WILL BE NOTICABLE NO MATTER WHAT? WILL THIS INCREASE MY RATES IF I FILE AN INSURENCE CLAIM?

 

No increase in rates, as it was vandalism. It's under comprehensive, not collision. It's sad that ppl don't file more, but, they fear their "rates" will go up. The insurance companies love this.

If you pay the premiums, use the coverage.

Now, if you're doin 60 ina 30, and sideswipe a tree, yes, you can expect an increase in premiums.

 

SO I HAVE A 500 DEDUCTIBLE, SO I WONT HAVE TO PUT ANYTHING DOWN?
