Default Purchasing Clay Bar Kit

Just wondering if anyone knows if a local retailer carries the clay bar kit or if you have to order it online? I've looked at the local Wally World and Auto Zone. I didn't want to wait. My car needs attention NOW.....

The problem is I've got areas on the hood that appear to be scratched from where bugs have hit. I don't think the paint is really scratched but I need to try something more than washing. I've tried to rub them out with my fingernail but they are in deep and I don't want to hurt the paint. Any help is appreciated.

Autozone does sell them. I think you should be able to get them at any autoparts store.

Clay bar doesn't do anthing for scratches. It is designed to remove bonded contaminants from a paint's surface. If you are just trying to remove bug residue, use a bug and tar remover before washing that area. It should soften up the bugs enough to remove them. Clay will work, but this is a different, more economical method.

You didn't say where you were located, so "local" is relative. I know many AutoZones carry the Mothers Clay Bar Kit. You likely do have surface contaminants from the bugs, so it should help. Included in the kit is some Carnauba Cleaner Wax, and it does have pretty good polishing capabilities, and may take care of your problem. If it doesn't, I'd try a scratch remover, and follow it with the a cleaner wax.

Thanks for the help....I did find the kit at Advanced Auto. Auto Zone had sold out. I got it after work and put it to use. It worked great. Every mark was gone. Impressive stuff.

your paint will be like glass afterwards. it's an awesome product, but it'll take half a day for you to do the entire car and then go back and wax it. [:'(]

use lots of lube, honest advice.
