Default Automatic Car Wash?

For those of you that have a convertible have you taken your stang through an automatic car wash? I'm always pressed for time and thought I could just run my car in but afraid the pressure of the water might get in the interior of the car.

Dont use a "Touch Free" type, they use high pressure jets to clean instead of the brushes. The high pressure will blow right through your window seals and wet the hell out of you and the interior. As for the other type, you shouldnt have the leaking problem, but i dont trust them enough to use personally.

I have heard too many bad things about car washes so I never used one.

I have a '98 GT vert and believe I read somewhere in Ford's do's and don'ts, either in my owner's manual or on a website, that I should never take my convertible through an automatic car wash. At least it is "highly recommended" not to use such a car wash for your convertible. Nasty stuff on your top and seals.

I have a 2003 GT Vert and was told by my dealer to never take it to a car wash. The jets are too powerful and the brush and bristles could scratch or rip the top. I wash it myself, and none of my other cars go to the car wash.

They are nothing more than automatic car scratchers. They remove some dirt and install swirls in your clear coat. Perhaps you missed the fine print in your purchase agreement of your Mustang. Buy taking ownership of this fine American Muscle Car you agree and understand that you are only to hand wash, wax, buff and caress your beloved Stang. I know time is precious but so is your cars finish. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER use automatic car washes.
