Shifter replacement on an automatic
Hey guys,
Let me start by saying that I love pretty much every bit of my 06 Mustang. It's just a great design inside and out... with one fatal exception... the shifter. I have an automatic, and let's face it, the damn thing is just hideous. To be quite honest, I'm not even sure I'd say it's all that functional either. It just doens't quite fit the hand properly in my opinion. Does anyone know of a replacement shifter for an automatic thats a bit more... oh, I don't know... attractive?

Interesting solution... I hadn't even thought of the possibility of putting in a ratchet style automatic shifter. That would be nice to have. To be quite honest though, I'm more interested in simply swapping out the less-than-eye-pleasing shifter, and keeping the stock functionality. It does what it needs to do... it just doesn't look pretty while doing it. That black and silver plastic in an I-beam configuration just doesn't do it for me. I'm sure I can't be the only one.
I have to agree i have searched high and low and only found billit caps for the ends. the snds look ok it's the damn seam right in the middle that looks like hell. anyone find a good chrome replacement let me know. otherwise i love my new pony.
One day the people who design these cars will make an automatic that looks like a 5 speed shifter, but without the clutch pedal. Seriously, it can't be that hard to do.
