Default Protecting dashboard / arm rest

Alright... I know I've been putting up numerous posts re: detailing my new '07 GT vert but I fear that I'll do something stupid by using the wrong product or method of applying it, etc.
That being said, I'm now ready to look at the interior. I purchased Meguiar's quick detailer for the interior vinyl/leather/plastic. I initially sprayed to dashboard and then used terry cloth to wipe off. I noticed the spots that the spray gun hit were still more concentrated so I gave those a little elbow-grease and I managed to blend it in.
Being that I'm not really sure what the dash / armrest are made of (feels like a composite cardboard/plastic??? is there such a thing?), I don't know if this product is recommended.

As for the rest of the interior, which seems to be made of plastic (which is my only negative feeling about Ford, and any other American-made car, and that's they go cheap on interiors... but if its kept clean and functions correctly, then no biggie), will this detailer product do the job? I just want the interior to look clean, be protected from sun (it is a conv), and shine if it is meant to shine (which is why I'm really not sure about the dash / armrest as these areas seem to be naturally "flat").

Any feedback??

You can basically use any interior detailer for your dash, console, trim etc. Don't use Armorall though. It will actually dry out stuff and make is crack and fade sooner.

spray your cloth first then wipe, less concentration in one spot.

use a company called "The Wax Shop", a guy at work who restores old fords and harleys said he would not touch his machines with any other products.

Anything you use on leather can be used anywhere else, including your dash. Meguiars procuts are my first choice, but I also agree the products from the wax shop (as stated above) are good too. They also make a very good spray detailer. Meguiars makes a foam product for your dash, and a separate one for leather. Either will do the job too, and leave a nice clean shine. The foam is just easier IMO to use. My interior is charcoal, and to me dark colors are meant to shine. I use the foam product on my dash, steering wheel and door panels. Whether it's meant to shine or not, it's all your own preference. Also, I don't use terry cloths for anything except cleaning my wheels. Use microfiber cloths, as they don't leave any lint, and are very gentle on all surfaces.

I've always been told that armor all has is alcohol based and can eventually dry stuff out. You want something that is water based.

Armor All has been water-based for many years now.
