Default RUST problem....with pics....

So I just noticed this the other day.

I was going to use my rotary tool to clean it up, spray some rust stuff on it, mask it, prime it, paint it black and silicone the rest. But I'm open to suggestions....

Any ideas on how to best repair this?

Do those side mold pieces on the roof above the door come off?

I just found the EXACT same ruts spot last week. (Mine is only about 3.5 inches long though) [:@]

Its a little strip just under the c-pillar panel lip. I would also like to know the best course of action.

Well I'm going to attempt to get a better look under that c-pillar panel. Will post some more pics...

If anyone know exactly how to remove it plz let me know....

Hmmmm....this is interesting. Is it just the 99s that have this chrome/metal trim around the edges?

I only have black rubber there on my 02.

99s are the same....i'm not sure exactly why paint comes off in that spot and exposes bare metal...

Definitely a 99 issue. Any other years with similar issues? My 02 is also rust free.

I took that c-pillar cover off and I'm not surprised it rusted....Beneath is just primer and water collects at the edge where the paint ends. Thus eventualy it flakes the paint and primer off and rusts :/ I suggest checking that out on your 99-2004.

I ordered some POR15 to fix the problem. Hopefuly it will solve the problem for good...

Hey guys just an FYI. I have an '04 and I had the same exact problem, except mine was at the front corners of the roof above the windshield. I took it to the dealer, and they repainted it with absolutely no argument. They said it was a factory problem. I'm not sure if it would work for you guys under warranty since yours are '01 but it is definitely worth a shot.

Damn, if you guy's think that is a "OMG RUST PROBLEM" then I hope you never move to New England.

Mother nature / statewide salt / calcium chloride use rapes every vehicle.
