fog lights operating with parking lights
I have a '00 V6 and I just bought a factory fog light kit from 5.0resto.com. I called the company and they said the fog lights only work when the head lights are turned on. A friend of mine has a '99 V6 with factory fogs and his work with the parking lights. Im confused by this. Does any one know how I would be able to get the fogs to work with the parking lights??
all you have to do is splice the power wire from the convo. top switch connector (it is even in a coupe) and run it into where the power wire goes to the fog light switch, and it will allow you to have to fog lights on anytime the car is on. The stock wiring only sends it power when the headlights are on, but this way it sends power whenever the car is on.
just be careful though, i see that you bought them from 50resto, but i bought a nice set from autozone, got pulled over bout a weel later after putting them in, bewcause they were to yellow and that they should only be on during adverse weather, gave me a $120 ticket!!!! and i wqired mine up through where the rear defrost button should be, (cuz i dont have rear defrost) and that way it only gets power when the car is on and i can still switch them on and off when the car is running

you would have to get a circuit tester and splice the wires. turn the lights off and on to find the power wire and the ground wire. That should be about it. I would rather do that instead of trying to find a hole in the fire wall to run a switch inside the cockpit.
Another way is to use a relay so you can have the lights on when ever your parking lights are on with and with out your headlights.
Relays are the safest way to wire up anything in a car. You limit the load to short runs of wire and not through the switch.
Wire the relay to get power when the parking lights (splice into a power lead on any parkig light) come on, to ground, to the lights, and to a switch (lit or unlit). You will only need one small wire to run through the fire wall now.
A relay requires much less power to activate then the lights, so the switch only has a small current draw when it is on and will not get hot. You can use an unlit or lit switch it doesn't matter.
Fuse between the switch and the relay and from the relay to the lights.
Presto, fogs on only with the parking lights and with or without the headlights.
I run with my fogs on all the time, but mine is factory and works with just the parking lights. It is against the law to drive with them on unless you are in inclimate weather. Yellow is okay, but most don't like the color because it is bright and attracts there attention, hurting their eyes.

hey guys i have a 98 gt. Couldn't you just cut the power wire from the fog light switch, and splice it into the parking lamp wire? Then the only way the fog lights come on is when your park lamps are on, and then they would stay on with the headlights too??
