do i need to buy the kit for this? i was looking at it when i popped the hood, and it looks like i can just undo the screws and take it out.

actually thats not the problem. the problem is that when you remove the grill, you have like 5 nasty lookin holes in your bumber sittin there. you would also need to make a braket to hold the pony up. the grill delete kit gives you a radiator gaurd thing, pony w/ mount, and a plastic piece that covers the holes up and looks really good.
