Default Getting ready to clean the car

Ok, here you go. I am getting ready for a full cleaning of the car. I have Meguirs wax, invisible glass spray, and Meguirs interior detailer spray. I also want to clean my engine bay and use a "clay bar." First, exactly what do you recommend for the clay bar and where do you get it??? I love Meguirs so do they make a kit or something??? Also, what should I use to clean the engine bay. I have been using some Simple Green before but am open to suggestions.

Thanks.

Meguirs does make a kit for the clay bar, something like $20.00 from Pep Boys. it has a case, two clay bars and some spray detailer.
CD-2 makes an engine detailer that works good after the engine is all cleaned up. just spray on and it looks shiney. i always wipe with a rag after i spray it on, takes out any little spots from the detailer, then looks like a new engine.

+1 and it works great. The clay bar from Mequirs is small, a bit larger than a business card. The kit comes with two bar, but with one bar I clayed two of my vehicles. The clay bar is just that...a clay bar. before using it, make sure you wet the surface well with the mist and spray that comes on the kit. This will ensure the bar actuallyu glides well. If the bar gets kind of dirty, that's ok...knead in you palm like silly putty and use it again. Use a micro fiber cloth to wipe out the excess stuff you will have. It should work fine for you.

Another thing that I recommend is break the claybar into like 3 pieces. Use one on the car and put the other ones in a container for future use. The reason I do this is that if you would drop the claybar you might as well through it away. It will pick up everything off the ground and you are putting all that junk back into your paint. So if you drop it you can just get another piece instead of having to buy a whole new bar.

+1..by all means if that thing falls on the ground...do not reuse....throw away. I was talking kneading the bar to get rid of some of the debris that it may pick up while actually claying the surface of your car. Rememebr to claying follows car washing anyways.

I just used mequairs clay bar kit for first time last week. AWESOME!!!!! I took the other members advice and broke clay into 3 parts and was glad I did when I ended up dropping 2 of the pieces during the process. It was very easy to do and the results were better than I could have ever imagined.

Well, I just got back from the car wash. It was freezing outside but I did it. I would wash it and then clean the interior as it dried. Then wash again, and the interior. I then vacummed it out and will wax tomorrow when it is fully dry. I didnt get to use the clay bar but it is on my list to do next time. I am strapped at the moment for cash as I have to get a new clutch and such SOON. Thanks for the responses and I will DEF. keep it in mind.
