Default cleaning wheels

I just purchased a stage 3 roush mustang! The car details awesome, but the wheels have caked on broke dust that I don't know how to remove. It is on the oversized callipers that need to be bling bling. They look dull and brown. Also the deep dish behind the wheel face is the same way. This issue is mainly on the front wheels. Thanks for any help!

I spary down the wheels with a spray bottle of water then thoroughly scrub them with a soft brush to remove all grime then dry then .....then spray on nascars all wheel spray and let it sit for 30 seconds preceeding with wiping off the excess and working out all the streaks it gives them a nice shine.

You didn't mention what finish is on the wheels?

And I haven't tried the Nascar product, but I have had excellent success with FX Wheel Cleaner (similar to Mothers All Wheel). Spray on, work for about 30 seconds (it sounds like some agitation will be required with a brush) and hose off with a strong spray. Repeat if necessary. Generally, I like to avoid finishes like cadmium (which probably are on or near the calipers) but in this case it sounds like you're beyond worrying about the sensitive finishes.

Here's the problem: brake dust can be detrimental on finishes if it's as bad as it sounds, so even if you get the caked-on dust, you may be needing a little restoration work.

Pictures would be helpful if you need more assistance.

Well, most manufacturers make both a Tire Cleaner and a Wheel Cleaner -- some make several types of Wheel Cleaners for different finishes. Most are spray-on, hose-off... sometimes a little agitation helps.

Mothers makes a good cleaner for chrome called Chrome/Wire Cleaner. There are others out there... some good, some not so.

As with any spray-on, hose-off wheel cleaner, I like to avoid sensitive platings by either spraying directly on the wheel (avoiding the rotors and calipers or spraying on a mitt that I use only for my wheels (nitrile gloves would be recommended for a chrome cleaner, which tends to be much stronger than other cleaners). Use a brush to agitate if necessary.

Follow the directions, of course.

I like to do my wheels and tires first with a strong bucket of suds for rinsing, an old wash mitt and tire scrub brush. Then I'll rinse well before washing the rest of the car with fresh supplies.

+1. Simple green is awesome. Just make sure you use a soft brush to scrub the wheels.
