Default cleaning

Hey all! I've never waxed a car myself before, so just a few questions from a newbie.

I got my mustang waxed once earlier this year at a car wash place. I noticed afterward that there was a white residue on the black trim around my windows. No matter how much cleaning and scrubbing I do, I can't get it off. Any ideas?

Also, as far as I know, does one just wash the car then wax it? I remember hearing something about polish, but I'm not exactly sure what that will do. Heh. Same with clay bar. I have some awkward, sludge appearing, protruding steaks on the back of my car. Will the clay bar help get rid of that?

Lastly, it seems like some products are color oriented. I have a blue mustang, if that makes a difference at all. Thanks for the help.

You need to clay and polish to get the best shine and finish possible. Claying will take all the contaminants out of your paint and make if feel very smooth. Polish/swirl removers will bring out the depth, shine, and reflection of your paint. 90% of how are car looks is in the prep work. Waxing basically seals what you did in the prep stages.

You can use something like Black Magic or a trim restorer to get the white residue off your trim. Also peanut butter or Magic eraser works good too. Peanut butter as your last resort!

So I highly recommend that you clay, polish, and then finish with a good wax or sealant.

PB did a good job taking off raod tar after a long 10 hour drive in my suburban. I thought the old man who told me that was crazy, but it worked great.

The natural oils in the peanut butter provide a great shine. Make sure you have lunch before putting it on!

question about the peanut butter method:

do u use creamy style peanut butter or chunky style?

i would think chunky style would be for hard to remove stains?
