Default Dawn?...just to make sure

Dawn isn't good to use to take off the wax of ur stang? Is it true that it hurts the clear coat?

i've been searching the threads and there are soo many mixed opinions.

thank ya

Yes, this is much-debated.

Unless your vehicle is horribly dirty or you feel the need to strip wax from the finish, I wouldn't bother with Dawn.

Using a clay and/or pre-wax cleaner or even a good cleaner wax will remove all but the most excessive wax build-up.

While I think you'd be hard pressed to find that using dish soap does any harm to your clearcoat, I prefer to not strip every finish of its lustre, including trim, rubber, etc.

Just use a quality car wash.

thank you. I was planning on clay barring and i read that this was one way to get the wax off before barring.

The only time I used Dawn was to strip away as much of the wax the dealer put on so that I could apply Zaino polish. I put 4 coats on last weeks, and there are many more to come.

dawn works great with a scrub sponge to freshen up the interior - on the paint is a no no - if you want it clean - wash it a few times - or use a cleaner wax like megauirs or if you want it hard core like new - wet sand and buff it

Dont listen to that. Are you so dissatisfied with the shine on your paint that you would listen to something like that?

Agreed- I would only recommend wet sanding as a last resort. With being an 02, there should not be a need to wet sand at all. A good polish/swirl remover almost always brings back the paint unless it is way too far gone.

yeah, i don't plan on wet sanding it. my cousin clay barred about a month ago and i did like you said Juztang..and used a bag to slide across to compare...his had no bumps at all and mine had a lot. And yes, your polish/swirl remover does work nice...he used it on his 99 gt last night and it looked great.
